Nortel LearniT's Community Ambassador Goals in Asia
  • Share the tools and approaches to advance education in Asia
  • Empower learners with e-literacy and 21st century skills

Working Together to Bridge the Divide

Nortel LearniT employee ambassadors engage in diverse community service activities, including those highlighted here.  These activities extend globally Nortel's 100-year tradition of successful, effective community service.

Nortel LearniT ambassadors build learning centres, train students how to use 21st century technologies; and educate students using these same high tech tools and apply advanced technology to improve the community and its environment.  Learn about some of our diverse initiatives below.

One Laptop Per Child-Nortel's Involvement

Nortel's involvement with the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program, active throughout Asia and Australia to  create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. See how Nortel Ambassadors are helping to engage children in their own education and to learn, share, create, and collaborate on the way to a brighter future.

Koramangala, India: Nortel LearniT Centre/Community Engagement Program

Read about the first Nortel LearniT Centre which opened in Koramangala, Bangalore, in July, 2007.  Nortel's focus is to support dedicated computer training centres.

Nortel worked with the Dream a Dream foundation to set up the new computer learning lab facility outfitted with computer learning stations and laptops and a complement of Nortel-trained volunteer teachers. The learning centre serves to empower children from vulnerable backgrounds by developing life skills and, at the same time, energizing and sensitizing a community of active volunteers.
