Nortel LearniT 21st century e-Learning initiative |
Jennifer brought technology infusion to school to improve the yearbook, allowing the addition of more pages, including more student activities. She and her students now produce a yearbook in full color that is offered at the same price as they were paying for the former black and white yearbook. The color yearbook also has more events because production time is shortened and they can spend more time adding school events...making many more memories for much less money. Very importantly, Jennifer explains, this literacy learning put the tools in the hands of teachers and students to take digital pictures, learn how to e-mail pictures, and burn CDs of images. In the process, she mentored students in various computer skills and secured funding for financing digital cameras for each grade level. |
Jennifer is now moving her successful program into an exciting Phase 2 as PTA coordinator for the school yearbook. Jennifer reports that "my LearniT program will be to teach the children and teachers how to paginate the book...we start these tutoring sessions by year end (2007)." "This will yield high confidence for student and teacher presentations and reports since the layout and file placement skills for the pictures and the text boxes can be used in all of the software packages currently on the market (Word, Power Point, Publisher, etc)." |
