Mission

Nortel employee and Plano, TX, neighborhood Brownie Scout troop leader Jennifer Duncan used Nortel LearniT resources to help 2nd and 3rd grade Brownies earn Scouting's computer literacy badge.

Pictured at left is one of the Scouts who successfully achieved the computer literacy badge.

The Brownies used a computer and computer tools (mouse, keyboard, monitor) to launch the Internet, play a game, create and print a thank you note, and use search engines.   Jennifer reports that this was fun for the children, taught them some skills and initated curiosity about the computer.

"Our next science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-related patch to earn will be the Computer Smarts Try It," Jennifer notes. "We are partnering these patches with the Nortel Cyber Safety Tips so the children will be aware of being alert and cautious when they are on the computer."
